  • Call for research projects: BLaST Research Mixer 2022

    The BLaST program will host their annual research mixer Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 4-6 p.m at IARC 501. This is one of the best opportunities of the year to see what research is happening at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ, which projects, labs and mentors are currently looking for students, and to network with other students, faculty and researchers.

  • Doug Davis and Deborah Gonzalez '86, children of former ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ Geophysical Institute director Neil Davis, have established three memorial scholarships at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ.     Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training will be offered Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 2-5 p.m. via Zoom by the Office of Research Integrity. It is an NIH requirement that all BLaST GMRAs, Scholars, UREs and other funded projects participate in RCR training. This is the only formal RCR training at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ this semester.

    Friday Focus: Case closure a reminder to remain vigilant

    The Sophie Sergie murder case finally concluded this week with the sentencing of Steven Downs. The case, while now closed, will always be part of our history and a reminder that ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ must remain vigilant. Occasionally when we address a disciplinary issue for misconduct at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓÆµ, I am reminded that "we are a reflection of society" and our society is tragically affected by domestic violence, assault and discrimination. That said, we are also a powerful reflection of the good in our society and we have the ability to positively affect our future and the future of all who come here.
