Ms. Julie M. Cascio

Associate Professor of Extension, Emeritus

WHEREAS Ms. Julie M. Cascio served the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks with distinction in teaching and public service from 2004 to 2024; and

WHEREAS Ms. Cascio taught and provided information to thousands of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵns on a wide variety of topics, including food safety, emergency preparedness, nutrition and healthy living; and her food preservation series was exceptionally popular in the Palmer area; and she produced dozens of publications, articles and videos; and

WHEREAS Ms. Cascio’s web-based certified food protection manager instruction reached hundreds of participants across the state; and she worked diligently to ensure her students passed the classes needed for employment in the commercial food industry; and

WHEREAS Ms. Cascio helped to organize an annual family and community education conference, while also hosting monthly group meetings and supporting such work statewide; and she held leadership positions in multiple local, state and national organizations, including the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Food Protection Task Force; and she helped to plan educational events for the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ State Fair;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Julie M. Cascio for her extensive contributions to the state of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. Cascio and as evidence of the university’s desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Ms. Julie M. Cascio as associate professor of extension, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Ms. Julie M. Cascio, and conveyed to Ms. Cascio on this third day of May, 2025.
