ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ

April is a proud ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ alumna, holding both a Bachelor of Music (2009) and a Master of Arts (2011) from ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ. She began her career on campus in 2012 and has since served in a variety of roles across the university, including in the Office of Admissions and the Registrar, the Department of Music, and the Academic Advising Center. She has also taught as adjunct faculty in the Department of Music.

As the Director of Career Services, April manages behind-the-scenes operations and long-term planning for the department. She also leads career-focused workshops for faculty and staff, connects with students through campus tabling events, and offers in-person appointments at the Rasmuson Library.

Originally from Soldotna, April has called Fairbanks home for over a decade. Outside of work, she’s an avid knitter, a devoted cat mom, and a passionate musician. She also runs her own small business teaching clarinet lessons to musicians of all ages.

Juju grew up in Colorado and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of San Diego. She has built a career in higher education through roles in Denver, Boston, and Anchorage, and now works remotely from Tennessee while supporting the entire University of ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ system.

As the Career Services Specialist, Juju manages all aspects of Handshake, the career management platform used by UAA, ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ, and UAS. She is the primary point of contact for employers with questions about job postings, account setup, event registration, and career fair logistics and payments. Juju also helps coordinate systemwide initiatives and supports the smooth operation of statewide career services events.

Abby grew up in South Carolina, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of South Carolina, with minors in Leadership Studies and Public Relations/Advertising. Her passion for higher education developed as a student through on-campus involvement and jobs, and she began her career on campus at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ in 2023 with the College of Liberal Arts.

As the Student Employment Coordinator, Abby works to improve on-campus job opportunities for students, facilitates relationships with students and supervisors, assists April with long-term projects, and meets with students often to work on professional documents, interview preparation, & job searches at her office in the Wood Center.

Outside of work, Abby is involved with the Fairbanks Rugby Club, and loves playing with the Ravens team in the summers. She also spends her free time reading, paddle-boarding, hiking, and exploring ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ with friends.

Nóra holds a Bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish from Clark University and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ. They began their professional journey at ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ as a writing instructor and tutor, and a journalist and layout editor for the ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ Sunstar. 

As the Workforce Development Tutor, Nóra works with students and faculty to connect academic success with career preparedness. They offer 1-1 tutoring in math, writing, study/test-taking skills, and job readiness. Tutoring sessions are offered at the various locations where students take classes, including ÓÐÁϺÐ×ÓÊÓƵ’s Troth Yeddha’ campus, the Community and Technical College (CTC), University Park, Hutchison, and the Hangar. Nóra also works as an embedded tutor in various courses and programs and helps with project and event planning as part of the Career Services team. 

Outside of work, Nóra loves to fence with both the Fairbanks Fencing Club and the local SCA group. They are also pursuing a PhD in the study of horror literature and film and cannot resist a horror movie night.
